What's your current setup? What's your budget? What's your room size?

He should try to find one in the same line as his fronts. Unless, he plans to eventually replace those.

Timbre matching is very important - you just don't want a bigger center - you want the right one for the rig. What are the front speakers?

Time to change all 3..... sorry
Teac's were a very general purpose speaker
from what I remember... will be hard to match
get 3 new for front
and use the Teac's for surround or somewhere else

Yeah, that's what I was getting at- if you can get model #'s it'd help as different series are meant to be matched up together.

Why, these not any good/discontinued? I'm not familiar with 'em.

I hate to hijack this thread, but I too am having some issues with matching fronts to a center. I have a set of Infinity Reference Two bookshelf speakers that are the fronts in my secondary system. I'm trying to find a center that will work well with these. Here are the specs.

Frequency Response: 50Hz - 25kHz
Crossover Frequency(ies): 300Hz
Sensitivity: 90dB (1 watt/1 meter)
Nominal Impedance: 6 ohms
Power Rating: 15 - 100 watts
Woofer: 8" (20.3cm) IMG
Tweeter: 1" (2.5cm) Polycell
Thanks

I just through a few good speakers out there. Really didn't much to go on.

That Polycell tweeter is the issue. Looks like an Ebay job to me. If you can't find a speaker with a polycell the next choice is an upgrade to one with a Emit tweeter such as this one http://cgi.ebay.com/FAMOUS-INFINITY-...3A1%7C294%3A50

or you can use a third Reference 2 and have one as a spare (three identical speakers across the front for perfect panning and timbre) like these http://cgi.ebay.com/INFINITY-polycel...3A1%7C294%3A50

I would go with three identical speakers across the front myself

You can buy the CC100 for the unbelievably low price of $140.00 from here.

I don't think you can beat that anywhere right now. Even if you have to pay shipping + VAT to Canada it is going to be worth it. Futureshop doesn't have them anymore. I wouldn't wait too long though.

The CC100 keeps up superbly well with my C300 towers. I think it should also do the same for your C500s.

I'd love to go with another reference two but this is a secondary system in the living room and I doubt the wife would go for that. I'll check out the two Kappa centers on Ebay. Thanks for the info.
