i, too, have hardwood floors, and the little woman didn't want me using spikes, (i can see her point). we were in ikea one day and i saw these triangular door pulls, about 100 times less than buying footers from a stereo shop, and voila! problem solved! the spikes fit into the threaded portion perfectly, and the wide end disperses the pressure form the weight of the speakers. also put felt tabs on my new " footers" just in case i need to toe them in(less chance of scratching).

I have spikes for my 802Ds, but I am not currently using them. Part of the reason is they each weigh about 175 lbs and I sometimes need to move them or adjust how they are toed in. But ideally, we should use spikes to decouple the speaker from ground vibrations.

Get a free carpet sample from a store, and cut it into 2x2 squares
![]() I have to find my carpet spikes (now that you mention it) because I now have carpet, and couldn't use them before.... before I put the small rubber perforated matting under it (that is used for underneath throw rugs etc) I have to find those spikes though ![]() |

Try sub-dude from Aurelex. It suppose to de-couple the speaker floor from the floor, it looks good too. Cost me $49.99.

most spikes will go right thru carpet(it's what they are meant to do- form a solid foundation with the floor) so laying a couple of pieces of carpet will only minimize the damage. Kinda like the "toonie" or "loonie" idea with the coins. if your sub is down-firing you will want the spikes on it, otherwise you could have some serious dancing going on.

I found the small rug was not enough and the spikes were still going through, so i added four felt protective pads. They worked perfectly. ![]() http://www.floor-protection-resource...ette-Felt-Pads |
