Question sound Advice

Hi,

i have just bought a new Hd Tv and a new blu-Ray player but my receiver doesn't have hdmi so my question is will i still get sound out of my receiver but not in true Dolby Hd and Dts-Hd Master.

My Receiver has Dolby Digital ex - Dts es

What Blu player and what receiver do you have, you may be able to get HD audio through multichannel analogs.

My A/V Receiver is a Yamaha Rx-v557 and blu-ray is a Panasonic dmp-bd35.

No go, receiver has the multi inputs but the BDP lacks the outputs. You said it's new, I'd see if you can return it for a player with multichannel analog outputs, this will give you HD audio.

Monnie to answer your question: Yes. If you use optical cable youll get regular dd and dts 5.1 but not dd true hd nor dts master. You can exchabge your bdp for somthing that internally decodes these lossless codecs. Then you can get multichannel cables to connect the bdp to receiver

if i bought a new receiver that has true hd dd and dts hd master would it work with my bdp.
