Default Onkyo LS-V950 & Blu-Ray

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and had a question. I have had the LS-V950 http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=...ss=Systems&p=i for years and its been a great all in one home theater option for me. My wife got me a Panasonic DMP-BD35 for xmas and so far I love it. I currently have it hooked up via HDMI to my Sharp Aquos and for sound I have a fiber optic link to the receiver. This receiver supports Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS. I see that the Blu-Ray supports a wide variety of audio codecs.

My question is I see a number of audio options on the Blu-ray with a movie in such as The Dark Knight. Will this receiver be able to output any of these options since it is limited to 5.1? I supposedly have DTS but when I play a movie such as The Dark Knight I dont see the DTS light up on my receiver, it looks like its only feeding Dolby Digital. Im new to this stuff and I am looking to upgrade my receiver but wanted to know how I can get the most out of my receiver right now.

thanks in advance

in the player audio settings make sure you set it to Bitstream On and turn Secondary Audio off.

Thanks for the info, that has seemed to improve the sound. One other quick question on video.

I have the 24P option, however, I cannot select "on" it only defaults to "off". Im prtetty sure the hdtv outputs in 24p its a 1080P Sharp Aquos 52".
