Default Best receiver around $600?

Hi,

I am looking at upgrading from an old Pioneer receiver and have a buget of about $600. I have been looking at the Onkyo 806 buy have seen alot of post where people say they have video issues. So my question is what would be the best receiver I could get for around $600. I will be powering the Klipsch Quintet III. Please HELP!!!!

After hooking my new receiver up, I'm very impressed with Denon. You can get some good deals at 6th Avenue or ABT online. The guys on here will help you a lot more than me.

I'm a big fan of the Pioneer VSX-1018 or the Yamaha RX-V663 at the $500-$600 price level. Give em a listen at your local Best Buy, if you can - great, great receivers at the price point!

+1 or the Sony 920 too, I would listen to a lot of different receivers before buying one, but since you are coming from a pioneer, that might be you baby.

Thanks guys, I am looking for somthing with a good amount of HDMI connections because my tv only has 2 and is already full with my Panny BD30 and DVR. Thats why I was looking at the Onkyo to begain with because it has 5 HDMI inputs. I would conseder spending a little more on another receiver if it has better quality and inputs.. THX would be a nice bonus.

Yeah, if you need to have 5 inputs AVR + 2 TV, that will prolly be the best bet, otherwise you would have to step into the Sony str-da4400es with 6 inputs + 2 on the TV. But the 4400es is anywhere from $1000-1500.

I really cant see the need to have a receiver with more then 4 inputs plus 2 on the TV... thats 1 for BD, 1 for HD DVD, 1 for DVD Upconverter, 1 for Satelite, 1 directly to TV for Video game system..... IMO

If you really need that many, buy an HDMI switcher.

I was wanting the receiver to have as many as i can get for the price because I want to run any toys I get latter through it for best sound... I was thinking of getting an hdmi switcher but did not want to loose sound quality. Can I still pass HD audio to the receiver through a switch?

Hey rdemystang, I just set up my system earlier this week. Anyways, just like you, I am powering the Klipsch Quintet IIIs. I got an Onkyo TX-SR606 for $620 shipped on Amazon. It looks and sounds great plus it has 5 HDMI in. Check out my gallery if you'd like.

Yes, a Denon will almost always trump an Onkyo in just about everything... btw, if you haven't checked the price of the 2809 with the coupon code... HOLY S@#*... 570 for this receiver is an ABSOLUTE STEAL!!!!!!!!

I agree. Don't think you'll find a better offer for a better receiver.
