Hey all,
I'm not sure if this is a dumb question or not, but here it goes. I've got an older 1080I tv. It doesn't have an HDMI connection. My sound system is a Panasonic PT760. I just got a PS3, I guess I was nice this you. Go figure. What I'm wondering is this. I've got an HDMI connection for my PS3 and PT760. I don't have an HDMI connection with my tv. Blu Ray disc sound is connected to my TV direct, which is connected to my PT760. And that produces my sound. It sounds good, but I'm wondering if I ran an HDMI connection from my PS3 to my PT760, would it improve the sound quality. Or am I limited based on the tv not having an HDMI connection. In short, does an HDMI connection upgrade my current sound. Or do I have it as good as it's gonna get? It sounds great, but I'm hoping for even better. Please advise and thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Happy Festivus, Mike |

Correct me if I am wrong, but your sound system only has an HDMI Output.
No HDMI inputs. So there is no way to connect the PS3 with HDMI for audio. You can however connect an Optical cable. Set the PS3 to Bitstream. Last edited by crackinhedz; 12-26-2008 at 01:58 AM. |

Where would that connection go into the PS3 and into the Panasonic? Also, would I need to disconnect my audio connection from the PS3 to the tv? Since the sound would now be routed through the receiver?
Thanks for your help! |

Connect the PS3 to the TV with Component cables.
Then connect an Optical cable from the PS3 to your sound system. You will have to go into the PS3 settings and tell it to output video over component, and audio over digital optical. Also make sure you set it to bitstream. have any other questions just ask. |
