The Sony PS3 is currently the only player that supports PIP. After October 31st every BLU-RAY player manufactured is mandated by the BDA to include PIP capability.
P.S. PIP to most people is a minor feature, picture and sound quality and a large movie selection are more imporatant issues for most people. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 04-18-2007 at 03:54 AM. |

Amen to that. It's all about HD movies for me; nothing more, nothing less.

Didn't realise that PiP was possible on the PS3. Will have to have a look.
Is that on all BD movies? |

Why would anyone want to use PIP when watching a movie?

I agree that PiP is not important at this point, but I would like to have it in the future (which we will). I want to see EVERYTHING that Blu-ray is capable of. As long as I know it's coming, I'm a happy man!

I've heard there is pseudo-PIP on a couple titles. "The Descent" is one of them. It's accomplished by including a second encode on the movie (with PIP) on the BD. Blu-Ray has the space for that sort of thing.

While watching a director’s commentary it would be neat to see a little picture of the director speaking, but at the same time I hope one can turn off the picture and picture while watch the director’s commentary. Some times the picture and picture can be distracting when one wants to see the movie and hear only the voice of the director. ** I hope when this PIP feature arrives on BLU-RAY that one will have the option to turn off the little picture of the director while listing to the commentary. **
