Default POTC1 defective?

ive heard from someone that early buyers of the first film may have a defective one.
i bought mine waaaaay back when toys r us had the BOGO and havent opened it yet... is there a certain batch or serial number the defective ones have?
or can anyone tell me what to look for?

It had to do with the framing off at least one scene - Jacks head is cut off or something like that and you see him from the nose down from what I recall.

There should be a lot of posts on this, and a year or so ago Disney was offering replacement discs - got mine, not sure if they still do it, or how.

For details on the defect and exchange program, look here. Disney was still running the exchange program at least up until three months ago when I called them about it. The woman I spoke was very pleasant but didn't have a clue about the framing issues with the disc; she put me on hold for a minute to check with someone else and then came back and said they would exchange it. They sent me a prepaid mailer for the disc, I shipped it back to them, and had my corrected disc about two weeks after I called them.

I have the defective one lol. I'm keeping it. When I watch this movie with friends, they never notice it and it makes me happy when I see it for some reason.
