Mortal Kombat 2010 - Blu-ray Forum

I was doing some searching today and I came across some legit Mortal Kombat filming info. Turns out they are casting Christopher Lambert as Lord Raiden from the first movie, but it seems like it is going to be a reboot. (aka Batman Begins) The screenplay has been completed and they are currently casting at this time. Currently, Chris Casamassa as Scorpion, John Medlen as stunt coordinator, and Larry Kasanoff as Producer are the other confirmed people in the film. One of the other "strong" rumors is Linden Ashby as Johnny Cage, but that hasn't been officialized yet.

I listened to a podcast interviewing Ed Boon and he stated that they had completed the script, shooting locations are being discussed, and that Lousianna is one of the shooting locations. He also said he believed it was going to be a reboot.

As one of my favorite games as a kid, I hope this turns out to be a modernized version of the first Mortal Kombat film with an R rating. I just think that an M rated game that prides itself on blood/gore should have the R rating. RE was an R rating and that was ok so I think they should be able to pull that off with MK.

It seems it will be a mix of fresh/original characters. With Raiden cast as the original that makes me happy enough.

I really liked the first one, the second was just beyond bad.

Very glad to see Lambert coming back. He was the perfect Raiden.

Nothing yet has been confirmed, wasn't that bad though for the 90's I'd say. Honestly, I think it'd be cool to have a band do the song like they did for the Deadly Alliance VG. It was Immortal by Adema if you wanna check it out.

I always thought that Sean Patrick Flannery would make an excellent Johnny Cage in the reboot. But I'm just excited for a remake in general.

Unless they totally deviate from the story, this will be almost as boring. Sorry guys, MK wasa much better live action show than movie, but apparently, I was the only one watching it.

Wait....I'm confused. Boon knows that the script is complete, but he believes it is going to be a reboot?? He doesn't know for sure? That doesn't sound very promising to me...

Man, they were supposed to come out with a new MK movie back in 2003 called Mortal Kombat

evastation...but they keep changing their minds about the fate of the franchise. I know for a fact that Robin Shou is not coming back at all. Who knows how it might turn out. Hopefully it won't suck like the second one, it was garbage.

I have heard rumours for awhile. The first one was fun, but the second one was just unwatchable. Hopefully they do this right and keep Uwe Boll away.

Some things are cool for their medium, but rarely translate to real life well. In my not so humble opinion, Mortal Kombat is one of those things. Look at the history of video game movies in general:

Mario Bros.
Double Dragon
Mortal Kombat 1/2 (first one was barely tolerable, second was awful)
Doom
Tomb Raider
Resident Evil Series (had potential, but Hollywood screwed it up)
Street Fighter

C'mon, leave these where they belong...in the video game world.

There are always ways to make a VG movie more believable, even in a fictional sense. It'll just depend on the director and the production team. As for the tv show I'm really interested to check it out.

He actually had scripts sent to him that he read through, but he doesn't know what Threshold had agreed on. All he knows is that Threshold chose a script and its finalized. Sorry for the confused wording, i was tired last night

Yes there has been a lot of rumors over the years, but at this point the film is finally in pre-production, and that is NOT a rumor.
