Unhappy Receiver Setup Help!!!

I have a Sony STR-DG800 connected to my PS3, Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD Player, and Direct TV HDTV Box via HDMI cable for video and an optical cable for audio because the receiver will only do video through HDMI and will not do audio through HDMI. Can you help me set it up for the best sound possible for all of these? I have the PS3 audio set to bitstream, and the receiver set to Dolby Prologic IIx. I only have 5.1 speaker surround setup and im not planning to expand to 7.1 till after I move. As for my speakers I have Polk R300's as my front left and front right, a Polk CS1 as my center channel and Bose 201's as my surround left and surround right. I am a NOOB at all of this so all help is appreciated.

sounds to me like you have it set up correctly.

...did you have trouble with something in particular?

Only thing I'm wondering- why Dolby Prologic IIx on a 5.1 system? Just use the DD or DTS that is bitstreamed from the source.

I don't know exactly. I have to switch to the Dolby Digital or DTS selection. Im just a NOOB at all of this and trying to learn from other suggestions and trial an error.

Usually the receiver says PLIIx if it is not receiving a digital signal. Maybe something is set to stereo set up. Not sure. Does it do this with all equiptment?

Sorry i meant that i will have to change the setting from PLIIx to DD or DTS. I never have to change back and forth from one setting to another.
