Hey guys, and gals. My controler never seems to fully charge I ahve left my PS3 on all night but it doesn't seem to fully charge. Not only that but at times when I use it it doens't do anything I have to either hit the PS3 button on it, or I have to reattach the cord to it then hit the button to use it. Is this normal or do I have to get a new controler? It's very aggrivating. Any thoughts?

Are you certain it's charging overnight? I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but the controller will not charge if you turn the PS3 off overnight. I charge mine on my PC or cable box while I watch TV, and the cable box will even do it overnight when I turn it off.

Before getting a new controller (although, having extra controllers around is sometimes handy), take a toothpick, or some other similarly sized item, and poke it into the hole on the back of the controller. It will be located directly above the left corner of the model # sticker, and to the left of the central screw hole. This resets the controller, and I've used this before when my sixaxis was acting up. If that doesn't solve your problem, you might need a new controller after all.

#1. You are trying to charge while PS3 is actually turned off or in standby mode (the red light is on). The controller does not, what is known as, trickle charge. The PS3 has to be on (XMB menu is on-screen is the TV is on) in order for the controller to charge. #2. The battery is simply losing its charge capacity. With all rechargeable batteries there is a point where you can't charge it anymore. In the time leading up to that point the maximum charge reduces over time. If you watch a lot of movies, learn to turn the controller off once the movie has started. If you leave the controller on, that's many many MANY hours of battery life that have just been thrown out of the window. |
