Default Bad grammar in reviews

I was reading a couple reviews and it seems there is a lot of bad grammar. I think that's fine for forum posts, but it gets kind of annoying in reviews. Not quite as much as some spoilers as I read in 'The Mask' which pretty much gave away the entire movie, save the last 5 minutes. I don't know, maybe I'm just a little flustered that these people get these discs for free (I think) but don't use proper grammar. It makes me wish I had a lossless sound system so I would be eligible to review discs.

How about having a rating system for the reviews?

I prefer a ban on all whining about reviews. Anyone who doesn't like said reviews should be welcomed to start their own website and create their own reviews.

... I'm an English major. I catch the grammar errors too. I also don't agree with a lot of reviews. But I wholeheartedly appreciate the ability to get an idea of what I might be purchasing before I purchase it. I like the screenshots and the comments on PQ and AQ.

Normally I'd ignore a thread complaining about the reviews/reviewers here, but the OP has a point. These people are typing up reviews and probably should have better grammar skills as that's part of the review. No offense intended to the reviewers here. I am sure they're just typing fast and just not even noticing what they're doing, I do it all the time. There's even the thing where you can go back and re-read something multiple times and never catch the mistake.

Tell the reviewer to correct the typo by PM!

Be constructive. Stop whining and be part of the solution.

Some of our reviewers crank out reviews so fast it's amazing. No one comments on everything that is done right.

I agree with Greg though. But seriously - does someone ALWAYS have to complain about SOMETHING?!

sheesh, just when one thread criticizing reviewers disappears another surfaces. no one seems to give 'em a break.

bluray reviews exist to give guidance to readers interested in the movie. the responsibility of a reviewer imo is to accurately deliver information to readers in an easy to understand format, and i fail to see how minor grammatical and/or spelling errors get in the way of that. so what if writing is a reviewer's profession? don't you think people in other professions make mistakes too? nascar drivers are employed to drive cars in a circle, and they crash all the time. fedex isn't ALWAYS able to get your package to you by the designated date, big deal. reviews are reviews, as long as the writer can communicate their points effectively to the readers i believe they have accomplished what they set out to do. it's not like each and every review on here is flooded with typos.

sorry for the rant, but it really bugs me when people call out the reviews here. who cares if they get free blurays or not, take the reviews with a grain of salt if you so desire. how much does it truly, TRULY affect you when you catch a grammatical error or see something you disagree with in a review? is your day ruined? can you not sleep at night? there are more important things to worry about, enjoy the reviews as they are meant to be enjoyed. i'm done.

Uhhh... this is the feedback forum. Technically this is where he should be voicing his opinions. Just like this is where people come to say "good job!" on a ton of the features available here. I think the OP was just trying to actually be helpful and point out the errors to help the reviews sound more professional.

But I guess now we know to just contact the reviewer instead.

yes it's a feedback forum, a section that should be utilized to provide suggestions or advice about the forum in a constructive manner, not call out reviewers on your own personal pet peeves. see my post above for clarification.

Alright well in that case, I suggest, and not in a rude way or anything, that the reviewers proof read their reviews due to typos.

Obviously any writer tries to weed out typos but some get through.

Again, if you catch something, let the reviewer know before making an even bigger public issue of it. If you must, post it to the errors subfolder. Pointing out typos is not feedback.

I agree, I use firefox and it highlights my typos and sometimes it misses some. In no way is anyone of us here perfect nor are they claiming to be. Give them guys some credit and stop nitpicking over the minor things. Even if you, the OP had lossless audio, does that make you a reviewer?
