Thumbs up TV/Movie/Gaming Setup

This christmas was very good and I got the following items:

47" Insignia 1080p LCD
GTA4 for PC
COD5 for PC
Nintendo Wii
Wii Fit Board and Game
Super Paper mario
mario kart,
Elebits,
De Blob,
Mario Party 8,
Carnival Games,
Wii Play,
REdsteel,
Zelda twilight princess,
(4) Wii Remotes, (4) Wii Wheels, (2) Wii numchucks, (2) points cards,
wii charging station,
Sony Blu-ray player s350
Sony Mylo com2 (portable device (iphone on steroids))
Dark Knight on Blu-ray
20 gift card for my favorite restaurant,
moccasins,
swivel remote stand for my remotes,
some clothes,
Jars of my favorite sauces for cooking
9400DPI printer

So yeah it was a good christmas. So I hooked up everything the other day and I took some pictures.

The TV itself is actually a great TV.. I normally stick with name brands but I was really impressed by the Black levels and the whites of this TV. The colors are spot on and I couldnt complain about the price ($899)

Dark Knight on Blu-ray:

TV and Computer Setup (Dual 19" Samsung Widescreen LCDs)

Memoirs of a Geisha DVD:

TV setup:

I also plan on hooking up my Computer to the TV as well through DVI to HDMI. I will get pics of that as soon as I get it setup.

Overall I'm really impressed with the TV. The contrast is really good and the colors are superb. I havent noticed any motion blur either. Another feature is that Every input the TV has can be configured separately. One annoying thing is the TV cannot be tilted up or down, can only rotate. I will take a picture of the remote control as well because It actually looks good.

The most comfortable chair ever.. I got it at shopko if you can beleive that. It rotates, reclines (locks in whatever position you want) It has a lether like material on the outside and pockets hanging down from the arm rests. I purchased the chair for $100 but shopko has it on sale for 199 right now (funny how that works.)

The Sound setup isnt that great but I'm huge on PQ not SQ. Its a logitech x 540 5.1 surround sound.

Now Realize that I'm 20 and I'm out of my parents house. So this setup is pretty good considering my age/situation.

The Computer if anyone is intrested is Quadcore Q6600 @ 3.6hz, 4GB OCZ Flex 2 DDR2 1200mhz, 8800GT, x38chipset, Razor Death Adder Gaming mouse, Saitek eclipse 2 keyboard, Razor ExactMat mousepad. The Computer is in a Antec p180 Black Case.

That is a wonderful christmas you had, lol. That first picture looks amazing! I am also using Logitech speakers, but the X-530 (Last Years Model). But this is temporary, but really is not that bad. I herd worse from more expensive speakers. But the only downside is, you only get sound in Blu Ray. Also the Sony BDP-S350 does not decode 5.1.

I know right! I was all ready to buy the sony 120hz and then I seen this beast. The Picture Quality on this beast was actually better than the sony. Neither of them had ghosting issues or color issues or anything like that. I would of normally stuck with the brand name TV, but both the info tags were missing on both the TV's and I kept looking back and fourth at them and played with the settings with both of them and I kept choosing the insignia. I then found out the price of both of them and I was shocked... I couldn't be happier with the decision.

Also right now the Sony s350 is hooked up through HDMI, The Wii is hooked up through Component, and My computer which im hooking up after I get some cleaning done will be DVI to HDMI. So all 3 devices will be hooked up with the best cables possible.

I'm looking at the Sony 52" XBR 6

Do you think the 47" Insignia 1080p LCD was just calibrated better? I really hope for the price of the Sony, it better be that much nicer, lol. But none the less, nice setup!

could of been.. who knows.. All I know is that when I was comparing the two I personally liked the picture quality of this one better.

But yeah as you can tell from the picture.. the image quality rocks.

I already do hardcore gaming with my PC(runs games like cod4, GTA4 a lot smoother with better graphics.)

So when I'm not hardcore gaming I like to just have some fun with my GF and our friends that come over. Already had the PC so why get another graphics based hardcore console? It is all about filling in the gaps of what a person is missing.

Also..

What would you rather have?

A.) 20" Tube TV with 7.1 Surround Sound
B.) 50" 1080P LCD TV with stereo sound

Either way, to each his own. I'm happy with adequate sound and a super nice picture. (BTW before this, I had a 20 inch Tube TV with stereo sound.)

ahah,i also had a 27'' tube tv years back....

oh i see about the gaming already on Computer..yeah i know what you mean now,the 1GB 3D card out with 7.1 sound cards...is high end with higher frame rates...

but to each of his own,i can say I'd be worry about online gaming on pc with cheaters with they're aim bots, wall glitches, ect.

missing out dude, there's games like Uncharted,Socom,..all on a 50'' screen.
But if you had a ps3,you could of networked both the ps3 and ur computer via LAN and share,pictures.mp3's,video,works smooth..

LOL ...... thats funny! First off, very nice set-up. Whats funny to me is that you did the opposite of myself. I have a 20" tube tv. But I chose to stay w/that and go w/the 5.1 HD surround sound coming from my PS3. But in the near future I will get the tv. Which iam still debating between a 40" Sony Bravia and a 47" or 52" Insignia LCD. Would definately like to hear how the tv holds up. Since it is one of my choices. Anyway, you did score for Christmas. enjoy ur gifts!

Thats really not so much of a problem anymore with newer games. I play COD4 all the time and I have only ever seen 1 cheater and that was on a non-punkbuster(no cheat protection) server. Other than that I havnt seen any cheaters for over a year.I know it used to be a big problem with older games like CS but I never notice it anymore.

One great thing about hardcore gaming on the computer are the mods for the game. For example, there are 100's of Half life 2 mods. If you don't know what a mod is.. its a modification to the game. Sometimes its a completely new game, while other time its the same game just extended (longer story, more levels, etc)

I know there are some PS3 exclusive games that I do miss out on, but the same goes with any console/system.

At the end of the day, its all personal preference. My personal preference is to cover all my bases.

Hardcore Gaming - Check
Party Gaming - Check
Blu-ray@1080p- Check
Super nice 1080P TV- Check
Great Computer- Check
Printer for Graphic Designs- check
Adequate sound- check
10ft DVI to HDMI Cable- Ordering soon.
HDTV Channels - waiting for current promotion to expire.

This is true, I find more cheaters (glitchers) on console games.
