Default How many lines of resolution am I getting?

Hi everyone! I`m not very informed about technical issues so I have a doubt, my question is:
I have a sony widescreen projection TV, hokked up to my my sony bdp s350 with video component cables, the video settings on the bdp are 1080i (that my Tv supports), obviously the picture does not fill the screen because of the aspect:ratio of yhe films displayed, since the screen is not totally used, how many lines of resolution is my tv really displaying?
thanks in advance!

The two main ratios are 1.85 and 2.39.

So,

1920/1.85: 1037 lines
1920/2.39: 803 lines

But, for a true 1080i (interlaced) display set, it gets a little more complicated. Because the interlace effect lowers the temporal (what you perceive) resolution somewhat. Joe Kane has claimed interlace results in a 30% reduction.
