Thumbs up Blu-Ray Musicals Appreciation Thread

Don't get too much love in this forum.
But what we have so far (modern) anyways ... i think is good.

- Hairspray
- Mamma Mia!
- Rent
- Across The Universe
- Chicago
- Phantom of the Opera
- Enchanted
- August Rush
- Sweeney Todd
- High School Musical

we need some more recent titles such as "Once" "Moulin Rouge" and some classics too.

I did forget "Sweeney Todd" but REPO! isn't out yet.
And technically it's not really a musical ... that's not how Darren likes to refer to it.

About Repo- I don't care what Darren calls it with the singing done by Anthony Head people will think the singing in Sweeney Todd is as bad as High School Musical.

Want proff watch the "Once More with Feeling" episode on Season 6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I've seen Repo! 6 times and I own the entire Buffy collection.
I know Anthony's capabilities ... they had a good examples of describing the difference between a musical and an opera. All of which I don't remember but due recall agreeing with.

Pretty soon we will have the "Rent Live Finale" on blu too. So that will be another musical release.

I'm going to blind buy Repo but had it not been for Anthoy I probably would have skiped it...Also wast he supposed to be it Sweeney Todd? One of the cut scences?

Chicago.... My personal Favourite. I know you didn't forget it... But I wanted everyone to know.

Saawariya is a Musical, but I wouldn't really count it since it's just a regular Bollywood movie.

I think is not so regular. I think would count.
It's a beautiful movie with great music. I seen it many times.
I own also Om Shanti Om, that it's a more regular Bollywood movie but very funny.

I think the entire THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT series could also be considered musical

Cabaret is available for preorder now.
Is not exactly a musical but I think musicals lovers (that's my case) also love this film.

I'll second that, although there's a fair amount of non-musical content (like the Marx Brothers' stateroom scene from A Night at the Opera) included as well. Stay away from it if grain makes you itch, but the collection is chock-full of song & dance and gorgeous production numbers (That's Entertainment, TE2, TE3).
And surprisingly enough for Warner catalog, all three films have released on BD with lossless audio.
