Thumbs up Your FAVORITE Video Game System

This thread is to discuss your favorite console(s) and the reasons behind it, including your favorite games. I've tried to list as many popular systems as I could think of in the poll, but if I forgot something shout it out below. Note: there is no specific order to the poll, simply what came to mind.

It goes without saying that open discussion is unquestionably welcome, but please be respectful.

That being said, I hands down think the Super Nintendo was one of the greatest video game systems of all time. It had a phenomenal library of games, and excelled in platformers. Favorite games on it: Super Mario World, all 3 Donkey Kongs, and NBA Jam. Even in a now-digital world, I continue to play my SNES all the time

N64

It was the system I grew up with, I had it for what seems like my whole childhood up until the PS2 was released...and I still played my N64 more.

It has so many classic games that have high replay value, I could play Majoras Mask back to back to back lolol.

I just recently bought one off Craigslist and have a good 20+ games for it LOL

I grew up with the Atari 2600 but have personally owned the following:

NES
Sega Master System
Genesis
Sega CD
PS1
N64
Dreamcast
PS2
xBox
xbox360
ps3
wii

I had favorites from each console but I'm really wanting to play goldeneye again on the n64. My favorite consoles are the dreamcast and the 360.

Good call on listing what consoles you have owned before naming your favorite, York. Helps to know what all consoles one has had before they tell you what their favorite of the bunch was.

We must be of similar age considering the consoles we've had.

Played it at Blockbuster when they were renting them. Never wanted one though.

I'm forty. I gamed when I was pretty young... and then didn't game much at all until I was in my 30's... which explains the gap in consoles.

I didn't really notice a gap in yours, it seems you've had a console from every generation. I'm 32 myself.

I played the heck out of my NES and then lost interest in gaming for several years until I bought a genesis near the end of its lifecycle. I only played it a little until my brother-in-law got a PS1. That renewed my interest and I've been hooked ever since.

I look at the Dreamcast like I do the PS1, jawdropping for its time. It's too bad the dreamcast died such a horrible death. Shenmue, chu chu rocket, crazy taxi, the 2k series of sports, virtua tennis etc. Some amazing titles on that system.

I actually had the game PONG where you had a dot that bounced back and forth on the screen and each opponent had to hit it before it struck the other side like tennis basically.

It is a hard choice but I will have to go with the NES because I played it so much when I was younger and my fav games were on. (All the TMNT games ) I also loved my N64 for Goldeneye and now, I enjoy my 360

I voted for the NES. I have had every console made by Sega, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, and this one was an easy decision for me. I still have a top-loading NES and over 100 games that I play periodically. With games like Punch Out, Super Mario Bros., Zelda, Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, and Metal Gear I never wanted for something to play. Sega Genesis would be a close second.
