Default Pen and Paper RPGs

What ones are your favorite?

Personally, I'm a fan of Rifts...played that one for pretty much my entire childhood. Ah, the memories...

Strat-o-matic baseball was the only thing I ever got close to with RPGs

(that counts, right? - players all had a card and you rolled dice to see what the outcome was)

Ah good times.
I lack mostly time to play it now.

Started on Call of Cthulhu, then Stormbringer and Runequest (big fan of the Chaosium system), tried D&D or AD&D, didn't like it.
Also tried the Star Wars of WEG, a French RPG called "Malefices" (great one, very light on rules) and Space Opera (ugh, sounded good, but horrible system). Oh did a Paranoia or two back in the days, very fun but a little too gimmicky for me

My all time fav is still Runequest, and I have bought the new sourcebooks for the new version, but haven't found the time at all to get a group together in the past few years.

Paranoia is great for a con game with people you don't know.

Mechwarrior was a great one, combined Battletech and RPGing.

Dungeons and Dragons was a standard.

A friend of mine wrote a cyberpunk type game, that was awesome, we abused it to death!

Shadowrun magic and guns! Ohhhh yeah!

I've even been part of a Car Wars campaign. It wasn't all car vs car either, there was role playing!

Very cool game. This was how my first game came, a small book in a zip-lock bag.

I have been playing MERP for like the longest time (8+ years) with the same people and honestly think this was one of the best RPG's out there!
Whenever I go visit my friends in Germany we try to get together for a small run

Shadowrun is also quite good.

I never knew those pen and papers RPG's but I remember when I was a kid there used to be these books called "Les livres dont vous êtes le héros". meaning "The books whose main character is you". You began reading the book and after a few pages of adventure you had a choice of what to do next. let me invent something as an example: if you were at the entrance of a maze it said: to go inside go page 14, to avoid the maze and go around it go to page 21, to turn back and choose a different path go to page 26 ...

I used to do a lot of choose your own adventure books in school. Also there was a baseball game, APBA, that is still popular now.
