Default 'New' Superman release (Will we ever see another remaster?)

I am a huge Superman fan and i am dithering on buying the current Blu releases (love the 14 disc DVD set too much). I have noticed that there is a S:TM and SR set coming out in Europe in March... http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/8...s/Product.html Are we likely to see these films 'redone' for Blu?

I'm hoping they re release it on blu with the theatrical version this time (the current blu only has the much inferior extended edition). I can't understand why they included the theatrical cut on the DVD re release but excluded it from the blu ray version. Plus, Warner will only include the original audio track with the theatrical version, and the remixed audio on the extended cut sounds god awful.

This is a Superman Returns reissue apparently.

It would be nice if it does include a lot of the deleted scenes that didnt make it onto the last bluray.

As well as a bluray optimized encode and lossless audio.

Glad to hear it, the current Superman BD release is pretty shabby.

I had this movie on SD DVD and double dipped when the TrueHD finally arrived and my copy is not an extended edition. Where'd you find an extendend version of SR? I'd like to know please, since supposedly there is no extended version out.

Hopefully WB will take a page from the Godfather Trilogy and just release all of the Superman movies in one "box" set. Well all but The Quest for Peace, I think we all could go without that one.

The person you quoted is referring to the original Superman movie, not Superman Returns. Almost everyone knows a very expensive and finished sequence was cut from Superman Returns but it was missing in action when it was released to home video. Most believe Warner Bros was holding it back for a double-dip on home video, but the current issues with the new Superman movie are holding back any potential new edition.

Bryan Singer wants the Krypton scene to be seen theatrically. His original plan was some kind of special edition reissue when Man of Steel came out

You're not missing much, the scene doesn't fit with the rest of the movie very well.

No reissues until whatever the next movie is comes. It's simply a 2-pack

I have the 14 disc DVD set, and I like the current STM BD just fine. The picture is the best I've ever seen it, and I only tend to watch the Extended Edition anyway. If I want extras, there's always popping in the DVDs from the set.

I just wanted to search for it on Youtube (why not try), and I found a really cool video.

This guy basically used concept art and a background score to add in his own Krypton scene into Superman Returns. I find it awesome!

Great find and it's pretty cool too. I just wish that would've actually had something like that in the movie but with more footage and detail.

In the movie it's pre-credits. Basically they just lopped it right out and started at what would have been the 10-12min mark

The best way to describe how it is on screen is very 2001/Stanley Kubrick

Man I wish they would have let us see it! I also hope we get a sequel and not a reboot! I hope they bring back Singer. Valkyrie seems to be doing well.

It's doubtful Warners wil re-remaster the print of superman the movie again. It's a reasonable looking blu ray..it's prob the best it's likely to look to be fair. What i'd like to see though is a blu ray re-issue of superman 2 with both the theatrical and donner cuts..i kept my standard dvd of s2 as the blu ray just had the new doner cut. I like bits of both. Hopefully 1 day warners will see sense!

Agreed.

The PS3 network had 2 and 3, I believe, up. So there is clearly and HD master. Just release it already. That boxed set that was released on DVD is absolutely fantastic.

I'd like to see the first movie re-issued on blu ray with the theatrical version and the original audio as an option (again, it made no sense to include in on DVD but not on the blu ray), and on DVD, the theatrical cut actually has a better transfer than the extended edition. I can only imagine how great it'll look on blu ray.
