Does anyone remember when DVD first came out they had those crappy cardboard cases and then switched the plastic cases. Well, I was always anal about the way my cardboard cases looked in my vast collection of plastic cases. Do you think that the way that blu rays are packaged now will change significantly in the future?

Stupid question, but does anyone know if different blu-ray cases have different model numbers? I am thinking of ordering some empty blu-ray cases from ebay, but I would greatly prefer the cases that Disney uses over the cases used by other studios? If anyone is unsure the differences, the disney cases are indented at the top and there is a plastic piece that clicks into place on the opening edge. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I love the style of the Blu-ray cases just as they are now. With one exception...I wish they wouldn't bother with putting the cardboard sleeve on some of the titles. I'm the kind of person that doesn't like to throw any part of my casing away, so I keep the plastic case inside the cardboard sleeve, even though most of the time it has the exact same image ad the plastic case. But being anal like I am, I refuse to toss it out. So the uniformity isn't there when I have a bunch of cool blue colored cases on a shelf, then a cardboard case, then back to cool blue. I know it's trivial, but I don't see the point in putting the plastic inside another case.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll try some of the suggestions.

If I want to watch a DVD or Blu I don't want to have to either take the case out of a cardboard sleeve or try to pull one particular case from a box set that's sometimes packed tight. But like you, I don't want to throw them away. So I just keep them in my closet. The Iron Man packaging was lame because the cardboard sleeve had Iron Man on it but when you take it off it's just a picture of Tony Stark on the Blu case. TV box sets are a little different. I just keep the 3-4 slim cases in their cardboard holder. I have shows like Seinfeld and King of Queens which had numerous seasons so if I didn't keep the individual cases together in their cardboard holder for each season it would be like 30-40 slim cases in a row and that wouldn't look good on my movie rack. |
