Okay, I tried looking in a few threads to find the answer to this, but there are a lot of threads, and I don't know precisely which one might answer my questions.
Okay, so I have a Samsung BD-P2500, and its digital output is selected to Bitstream (Audiophile). It's connected to a Samsung HT-X50 via optical cable, so I know that it's not outputting Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master, but it certainly doesn't sound like old-fashioned 2.0 surround. Do all Blu-Ray discs come with a Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1 track, even if it doesn't say so on the packaging, or is the player just outputting it as such? Thanks in advance for any help. -Matt |

if you are using optical, you should set the player to Bitstream (secondary audio off).
Select the TrueHD or Dts-HD MA track on the disc, they are backwards compatible with older Dts and Dolby receivers. Granted you will not get high def audio, you will still be able to get 5.1 surround. But again, the optical connection must be set on bitstream and secondary audio turned off. |
