Question Best 24" screen for computer?

I'm looking for a screen that is less than 21.5" wide and less than $200. I've seen a few but am not sure exactly what else is out there since I haven't shopped around for a computer monitor in a long time (still using a super old 17" CRT).

How much do you wanna spend??

I'm a professional photographer and am saving my pennies for an Eizo Color Edge that goes for about $1,600 in a 24" size.

My budget, as mentioned, is $200. That Viewsonic seems like a good deal. I've seen a few 24" widescreen monitors that would actually fit the max 21.5" width maximum of the armoire that I'm using.

probably gonna be hard to find a decent 24" for that price

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001309

$260 after rebate

how come u want the 24"? just for the screen size, or did u want the native resolution of the 24's.

Go to best buy and look at the Hannspree monitors. Last I checked the 22" lcd was 199.00. I bought one in march and it has been great. I love it. Another plus is it has vga and Hdmi inputs.

Any other suggestions for a 24" or 22" with 1080p or higher capabilities within the size requirements?

There are different types of lcd panels to, each with their own pros/cons, but most of the companies use the TN type panel. If you click on this link, you can read up on them.

I spent over 3 months researching lcd's. Went through: HP, Dell, Vizio, Samsung, Sceptre, I-Inc., Hanns-G, BenQ, Acer, LG, NEC, Hannspree, ViewSonic and Westinghouse at local stores. Remember this important thing when looking at lcd's in a store: Sinze many people fiddle with the settings all day, always do a factory reset first, then start tweaking the settings to your liking.

As far as Samsung's computer lcd's go, I have found them to be just average. I don't know why people put them out to be god-like. I would say under half of the lcd's I listed above looked as good as the Samsungs, if not close enough to not justify Samsung's higer prices.

I have a this monitor, a Vizio 26" lcd.....but that goes for around $349. However, it was by far the best bang for my buck. Absolutely love it.

I will be purchasing an HD monitor but I dont know if I need a 1080p resolution because i will NOT be watching blu's. Getting a new desktop from the parents for my bday! I am purchasing the monitor...I want the pop of the HD screen. My girlfriend has an hd screen on her laptop and its gorgeous. Any advice for me?

I did read on bestbuy that having at least a 10000:1 contrast ratio is key...the dell screens are on 3000:1 i believe.

Any advice?

As with resolution, there is more to the overall picture than simply contrast ratio. If the quoted numbers are dynamic CR, then they are meaningless. I'm in the market for a new 22" or larger monitor myself. I'd love to try the $167 Acer from Amazon, but would hate to pay to return it if I don't like the picture.

Ricshoe: I would be curious as to what monitor you are getting. I am going to stick with Bestbuy so I can use some gift cards.

This monitor at Dell seems to be a great price and it happens to be 1080p. I do not plan on watching any blu's on it unless someday i buy an external or internal blu drive...I'm not getting one with the initial build of my desktop. I did notice there is no HDMI input though....hmmm....The contrast ratio is 1000:1. Should I be concerned about brightness with that low ratio?

I have a BenQ FP241W 1080P that I adore. I have had it for 2 years now so I am sure there is a newer better model. It was the first monitor to have HDMI and component inputs.

Great picture with blu.

We recently got these in the office, and I think they are pretty good as far as computer monitors go. Never used it (obviously) for gaming or movies, so I couldn't comment on that performance. If I could find a comparable monitor for <$200, I'd jump on it for home.

I used to put a 32" Vizio in an Armoire. I got tired of opening the doors to watch anything. Plus you really restrict what you can put in there for size and later on realize that you should actually put clothes in there and just get a table or TV stand instead. In your case maybe a simple computer desk with one pull out for the keyboard?

As far as a recommendation for a monitor, what kind of inputs do you want (HDMI, DVI, or VGA)? Do you need sound too via optical or composite?
