Default Flexible tubing to organize wires behing tv stand?

I was thinking of a way to minimize the the clutter behind the TV stand where I have multiple power cords, speaker wire going every which way and a surge protector, etc...

I was thinking of using clear flexible tubing to run the speaker wire through (just behind the tv unit so it's not so cluttered when I try and unplug/plug stuff in and out). Once it's away from the stand I will run the speaker wire under the carpet or on a wire track.

Here is the type of tubing I am talking about in case you're lost (this isn't the exact one I would get, but it's the best one to show what I am talking about).

http://www.amazon.com/inch-Clear-Flexible-Vinyl-Tubing/dp/B001EUL5F4/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1232693359&sr=8-11

Is this a serious no no? I have no idea and that is why I am asking. I'm afraid the heat put off from the back of most of these electronics may cause the wires to melt together or something...

I was also thinking of getting like a 2-3'' one and running 2 power cords through it to condense the mess, but am just not positive if this is a serious hazard.

Thought I would ask someone on here who is knowledgeable on these things, since I am obviously not.

Thanks for the reply!

I've thought about the zip ties, but my only issue with that is whenever I move stuff or change stuff around (which is often because I'm always thinking of something new or buying new equipment) and it would become a pain in the butt to cut the ties all the time and redo it.

Now that I think of it, the tubing would make this even more difficult since I would have to take off the banana plugs every single time I wanted to move something around.

Zip ties are easy but I use black split loom. It's very cheap and can be purchased at any automotive parts store. It comes in all kinds of diameters. Last time I bought some it was cheaper than zip ties.

Definetly use a wire loom, or zip ties. You can pick up both at just about any auto parts store.

You could also use velcro ties. They're pretty handy because you can undo/redo them. Not quite as tidy as wire ties though...but close.

I don't think the clear tubing is the best idea (getting a bunch of power cords in there should be a pain to do).

Personnaly, I use these:

- F6 Wraparound Braided Sleeving
- Zip ties
- Velcro One-wrap

Also, check out http://cableorganizer.com, this should give you ideas!
