Default If blu-ray.com started to charge for their membership... would you pay??

Just a thought that came in to my head to day.. How many of you would pay a fee to be a member here? If blu-ray.com decided to bring in a charge, would you pay it? When I see everything I get here from, news to reviews, I think I would! Of course, it would all depend on the price.. But a $5 charge per year doesnt sound too bad?

I'm just thinking out loud... Would you pay??

ps I am not an undercover mod/site manager trying to get feedback on the sly..

If it was cheap….less than $10/year, maybe.

Def. not if it was more than that.

If it was a case that the funds were needed to keep the site alive.... I mean, I would not like to see this site close for any reason!!

Definitely not. Unless it was less than 1 cent.

I won't pay for access to websites. Nobody held a gun to anybody's head and forced them to make a site, so if they don't want to bear the burden of hosting fees, they can stop making the site.

Won't pay for Google. Won't pay for Facebook. Won't pay for BD.com. Won't pay for anything.

And I definitely wouldn't pay for access to a forum, because the users are what makes the forum, not the admins.

Hi Gar,

There are a few sites around that do it and obviously a decent amount of people sign up for it, but I suppose it would mean that you'd have to have some other benefit besides just the ability to post, otherwise it wouldn't fly.

Sorry Stewie!

It's interesting though.. I would have thought that more would say yes, they would pay. The information we get here is fantastic! I would pay (unless it was something outrageous). Would have thought more would!

No problemo Gar,

But I think John made a very good point. If you had to pay for it, then there has to be benefits included. Otherwise, it just wouldn't make sense.

Hey John!

But we have much more than just the ability to post already! Access to information on a massive database of blu-ray movies.. Top reviews from top reviewers! Price trackers etc.. all making our blu-ray hobby much more enjoyable!

We just need to remember that when we order our Blu-rays to do so through the Amazon links on this site.

I won't pay for membership. But if the site was asking for donations for a worthy cause then yes I'll gladly do it.

True enough. However, are you going to take these "benefits" away from non-paying members? You can't! If you did, the membership base would drop faster than you could ever imagine.

A paying membership NOW would have to involve some kind of perk over and above any and all current offerings.

Nope. Plenty of other forums that offer free usage. I would rather not be forced to use some of them though.

No I wouldn't pay for a membership. However, when I buy a new blu-ray from Amazon, I make sure to go there via this site so the site receives a little kickback.
