Default Yamaha RX-V661 and BD-P1400

i have my bd-p1400 hooked up to my rx-v661 using hdmi cables audio is set up to pcm the problem is the the audio is extremely week, when i set it back to bitstream the audio quality is much better, even when playing regular dvds the audio quality when set to pcm is well below that of bitstream can anyone think of something that im doing wrong.

Leave it on PCM and turn up your volume. That should solve your problem.

Louder does not equate to being better. Although the lossless track with your player decoding may sound quieter than bitstreaming the lossy soundtracks, you will find fuller, more detailed and natural sounding tracks by using the PCM option to gain lossless audio.

some receivers when selecting multichannel inputs have different calibration settings than other inputs.

See if maybe your levels are set lower on it when on that mode.
