Default yamaha v661

I have a question about the new sound formats(true hd,etc.).Does the ps3 breakdown these formats or does the receiver do it?

The PS3 is capable of Ujncompressed PCM and Dolby TrueHD.

We should be getting DTS-HD Master by Christmas...but who knows.

Anyways, the Yamaha 661 is 7.1 PCM capable...and as long as the PS3 decodes you will get Lossless audio. Its an excellent receiver.

So for instance on Spiderman 3, do I choose true hd or the uncompress format? Does it really make a difference?

you can choose either.

But you have to have the PS3 output as Linear PCM. (easy way to toggle between Bitstream and LPCM is to hit the triangle button during movie and go to A/V Settings icon. )

that is the receiver i have and i can't say enough about it. it's awesome. wait until you apply processing to signals over hdmi (a rarity in receivers). it's great!

It is a great receiver. Works great with the PS3. Supports 7.1 PCM and even 176khz & 88khz for SACD

Great User Info

pg.81 user manual:

Video conversion: VIDEO CONV.

Use this feature to set whether to convert the video signals
input at the VIDEO, S VIDEO and COMPONENT
VIDEO jacks.

Choices: ON, OFF

• Select “ON” to convert composite, S-video and
component video signals interchangeably.
• Select “OFF” not to convert any signals.
