I recently purchased an LG 50PG60 and a Samsung BDP 2500. I have Directv HD which looks great on the LG. When I tried to use the Samsung the picture would have a white flash that was brighter at the bottom of the screen and would repeat about every five to ten seconds. It even happened on the menu before the disk would play. I tried switching HDMI cables with my Directv rec. and it did not change. I took it back and bought a Denon DVD 1800-BD and a Denon AVR 2309CI to replace it and my old Harmon Kardon receiver that did not have HDMI. Now my Directv rec. and my Denon blu ray both route through the Denon AVR and to the LG Plasma. When I turn on the Denon Blu ray now, I have a random thin red horizontal bar that flashes at radom spots on the screen and tiny bright dots in random places on the screen. This happens on the boot screen before the movie loads and throughout the movie. My Directv stills looks great though. I even downloaded a trailer in 1080P from Directv on demand to see if it was a 1080p issue with my TV and it looked awesome. I have switched cables, changed settings, tried standard DVDs and nothing helps. Sorry for the long length on this one but I wanted to try to explain the whole scenario. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! (I have upper end HDMI cables too)

Yes I do have a Monster Cable power strip.
I also tried my old Denon DVD-2910 on the same HDMI cable and it worked fine. It only upconverts to 1080i though... Last edited by Jackson2939; 01-24-2009 at 02:32 PM. |

If all other sources look good,...I would have to suspect the Blu-Ray player. I would think that you tried more than one movie ?
I have a BD-P2500,....and it runs great,....but things do happen. Here's a thought,....in the past,....when trying to hunt down random signals,...I always checked the individual and system ground. Also the ground on the house wiring. Funky grounds can cause a lot of strange things. Barring that,......will the retailer swap out the 2500 ? |

Thanks for all your input. I returned the 2500 and purchased the Denon receiver and Denon Blu-ray to upgrade my receiver to one with HDMI.
I did find my problem though with my current set-up. My Denon DVD 1800-BD was set to default at 1080p 24fps. Swithing it to 1080p fixed my problem and I could'nt be happier! Great picture and awesome sound (7.1 if the disk has it)! Do plasma tvs not support the 24fps? Is it just an LCD thing or is it just that my LG 50PG60 does not support it??? I think the 2500 was defective though because I did try switching off the 24fps on it and it did not help. Thats why I had not bothered to mess with it on the Denon when I got it....
