Interesting Spiderman 3 tidbit

I was listening to an interview with Tobey Maguire today who was of course talking about Spider-man 3. But the conversation got a little personal and Tobey revealed that his fiancée’s father is the head of Universal.

I thought that was a very interesting tidbit. Just think about it, the three Spider-man movies are going to be so huge on Blu-ray that it is going to spin the heads of the most fanatical HD DVD zealots. Casino Royal is nothing compared to what Spider-man, Pirates, and Pixar movies are going to do to help Blu-ray sales. I think that Christmas is going to be very interesting this year for that family when Universal learns that Spider-man will end up being one of the determining factors for killing off HD DVD.

Hopefully Tobey can convince his future father-in-law to get his head out of the sand and start supporting the winning format before it’s too late.
