Default Heroes: how to watch for the first time?

I've just started watching Heroes for the first time ever. Never saw it on TV or DVD, so my blu-ray box is my first time to see the series.

I've starting watching the episodes without the U-control features activated, but now I start to wonder: for a first viewing experience, is it better to turn them on or off? I've tried with U-control turned on once and found the tidbits of info that popped up quite interesting (not so much the paintings, but the heroes connections were interesting). On the other hand, I'm afraid it might detract me from the main feature and I might miss something as a result.

So for those that have already seen it on Blu, which is the best way to view it for the first time?
  • with U-control turned on, then a second viewing session with U-control off
  • witout U-control for the first time and then a second viewing session with U-control turned on.
I'm inclined to take the second option, but wanted to ask you guys first ...

I would not 'ruin' any movie or tv-series by watching for the first time with popups or anything like that activated. Heroes is simply amazing, and everything is explained in good time. Enjoy, you are in for a treat!!

Right now I'm watching Psych season one. I have one disc left for that show and then I think i'll start watching Heros. I'll watch it on DVD however because I am a Hollywood video MVP so I can get almost anything I want on DVD for 15 bucks a month. I could upgrade to have it include Blu Ray but that would be another 15 bucks a month and I would only be able to check 2 movies out at a time.

Didn't know that Hollywood Video was still in business. Interesting.

Yeah, it is. Definitely a good idea starting on s1 though. Seems like it's one of those series that you should really start from the beginning, which isn't the case for others (i.e. 24 which it doesn't matter which season you start with). I actually started with s3 Needless to say, I was confused for a few episodes.

Thanks for your suggestions, all. I'll start by watching the series without U-control and at a later date will rewatch with U-control turned on.

I've only seen the first 4 episodes, but I'm really enjoying them a lot. Sad to hear the series went downhill from there and even got cancelled after season 3 (unless this is just a rumor).

Anyway, thanks for the advice & I can really recommend this box to everyone: good extra's with U-control; good PQ/AQ (especially considering it's a TV series) and awesome script!

here's how you watch heroes:

watch season 1 and pretend the story ends there because season 2,3,whatever is dreadful.

does anyone know if season three will be out on blu?
I've found links/dates etc for the DVD release (UK 24TH Aug) but nothing about blu-ray....I'm a little concerned that with the dip in popularity it will only be coming out on dvd which mean's I will have to miss out (I refuse to settle for dvd copies, sepcially after seeing how great the first two seasons are on blu)

I would not watch it the first time with U-Control on.

And what is the problem with everyone, Season 1 is great but Season 2 is just as fun to watch, there is nothing wrong with Season 2 at all.
