Default Sony STR-DG1200

Does anyone have experience with this receiver? I admit one primary reason I like it is the on-screen XMB GUI and four HDMI imputs. Can't say I know much about the sound, power, or overall quality of Sony receivers, though.

Sony makes great recevers, you will get your detractors though on here. actually if you are considering th3 1200 receiver get the str-da2400es, Their es line is great, plus the 2 are practically identical, and I think sony lists the 2400 cheaper. I have the 920 and i love it, I know someone on here has the 1200 and love it too.

Although I don't have any experience with that particular model, I also have been very satisfied with Sony receivers throughout the years, having owned 5 or so different models since the '70s. Still using a couple of these for the spare room TV, etc.
Currently am using a STRG 820 and I'm very satisfied with the clean sound and quality. More than adequate power for my Mirages.

Can you tell me if the GUI on the 920 is the same as that on the 1200?

I do not think they are the same, but I have never seen the GUI of the 1200 so I cannot say for sure. the 920 has an onscreen gui for sure, the 1200 says its a Xross Bar GUI, I don't know what that means.

Xross Media Bar is the PS3's interface.

didn't want to make a new thread for the same thing, so I will bring this one back up. Does anyone have the STR-DG1200? I am proably going to order one on Friday, I know about the GUI and whatnot, just want some personal opinions since I can't really find much about this receiver on google etc

Can't you find the ES2400 cheaper? Why not get that instead? Sony has the ES2400 listed $100 less then the DG1200 at sonystyle What is stupid about that too is they basically the same.

What else is stupid is that they take away the Xross Media Bar gui on the 2400...

So, does anyone that HAS a 1200 care to comment?

I'd still love to hear from anyone with this receiver myself. I have searched and searched and the Web is virtually devoid of any info on it. Again, I like the specs, four HDMI ports, and the XMB style GUI. The best price I've found online has been just under $500.

yeah, there is a lot of things missing on their site today. It was all there Monday. I heard they are already gonna start putting out 09 products soon. That seemed quick didn't it? If your dead set on the 1200 you may want to find a reasonable price and jump on it or wait to see what else they are gonna start turning out. good luck
