Problem with Poltergeist Digibook BDisc ??? - Blu-ray Forum

I sat down to watch the movie when I realized there is a scene cut in the middle..

it's on the 00:34:13-14 mark. Where the father examines the chair, then it suddenly goes forward to the couple being outside of a neighboor's/friend's door with him opening and greeting them..

is this normal ?? I watch the movie the a 60GB PS3.
The disc doesnt skip though... the minutes/seconds go on as they should...

Yeah, that cut has always been there...and it's always been strange. It's like he's sitting there listening to Diane tell him about it and she says something like "...there's no air, except that you can breathe...and you're getting pulled along" (right then there's this weird flash and the door of the neighbor's house creaks open and the Freelings look like they were right in the middle of talking to each other). It's always been a very bizarre cut...but it's nothing wrong with your disc.

For a second I thought this might be just another Warner glitch. The kind that seems to be happening with Matrix Revolutions.

Yeah that cut scene was on the DVD too. Nothing to worry about.

That scene has been cut like that I believe ever since it has been out on home video. I think there was a discussion by the family members about going to Pizza Hut and someone saying Pizza Hut sucks or something to that effect. I wish it would have been restored to its original glory for the blu-ray release. I once had the deluxe laserdisc 2-disc set of Poltergeist and it had several nice documentary features about the movie. Alas those are no longer acceptable to included on the blu-ray I guess because Spielberg won't allow it anymore.

I searched this thread to say what a stellar disc this is. I have never noticed the glitch until you said. Some of you have eye's in the back of your head.

Anyway, this is a stellar disc

I got a laserdisc player 2 years ago, and the 3-disc Poltergeist set was one of the first I picked up (good 'ol ebay). Too bad it has never really had a great presentation with extras & all. Also have on blu, just haven't had the chance to watch it yet.

This blu was amazing... IMO one of the best transfers of an older film.... The scenes with the white light from the tv were mesmerizing!
