Default Order Pirates on Amazon!

Everyone should get both of the Pirates movies on Blu-ray up to the number one spot on Amazon. HD DVD has the record right now with Planet Earth reaching number four.

Sorry... B&M for me. I'm watching it that day. Back to back Pirates marathon. Who cares about online sales... It's B&M sales that really count anyways. The sales there are what is causing many retailers to shift floor space from HD-DVD to BD. Things like that are going to show the average consumer which format is truly the best.

I'm still mystified by the HD-DUD version of Planet Earth still selling on Amazon... I thought it would have plummeted by the release date... and in the Nielson rankings it outsold (though by a smallish margin) the BD version. Honestly, I really thought when all was said and done the BD version would've outsold the HD-DUD version.

I'll be buying both Pirates, and probably from Amazon, but it really doesn't matter much to me where people buy their BDs. I estimate only half the people here shop at Amazon. I was at Best Buy yesterday and Blu-ray has twice the floorspace as HD DVD, so spread the wealth. I'm for pro Blu-ray efforts in general. I've completely stopped buying SD DVDs.

I have Pirates on order through Amazon, but I'm probably going to cancel it, for several reasons. First, I want to watch them before Pirates 3 hits theaters, which is likely not possible through Amazon's super-saver shipping. Second, it's probably better for the format to have sales through B&M stores, to get them to move towards the blu - this is where most everyone else is getting introduced into hi def. And third, blu-ray is already dominating Amazon sales, what do I care if one lone hd-dvd title has high sales there? Take a look at the current product wars page:
http://www.eproductwars.com/dvd/

it's very clear the buyathon is over and did almost nothing to help hd-dvd.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. You can't put anything past them, anything is possible.

I pre-ordered mine this week from amazon. According to the details they include a bonus disc that was offered with the DVD versions.

Ummmm....everyone cares about online sales. Nobody cares about retailers shifting their floor space. It doenst show anything.

Actually retailer sales are much more important since a good majority of the population still doesn't shop online.

If online stores didn't post sales percentages, or sites didn't compile Amazon sales ranks, nobody would care about boosting online sales.

Retailers shifting floor space is what's going to get everyone else to buy into the blu format.

If I were living in the USA, I'd definately be buying from a local store. The point about floorspace and retailers is very valid. It's also good to support local stores, so long as prices are in line.

As for now, I'm importing stuff from Amazon.

I've told myself I won't be buying any more Blu-rays that aren't subtitled in Korean though, because if my friends want to watch a flick with me, I need that.

Sadly, Korea seems to have very few blu-ray disks, despite Samsung and LG supporting the format. We've got something like 15 titles in total!

I think "Closer" is coming out in Korean. If it is, I'll pick that up soon, just because my ex-girlfriend looks like (actually, is hotter than) Natalie Portman -- yes, it's true.

It seems to me that most HD owners are older age wise and they are into that PLanet Earth type stuff.
