Default ps3 and component cable

want to get the 80gig ps3, I have a mitsubishi 55inch hdtv it only has 3 component inputs one of which says dtv its capable of 1080I will the ps3 show games and blue-rays in 1080I? also thiking of getting a new reciever with component inputs and outputs will this help in pq?

It will work fine over component. I bought the Sony component cable at Best Buy for $20. Buying a receiver with component switching shouldn't have any affect on picture quality, but it can ease things by giving you video switching. If you use a universal remote, that's not necessarily a big deal. It does allow you to only run 1 set of component cables to your TV though.

If you have HDMI, that is definitely the way to go. But there are obviously those of us with older TVs out there that do not have HDMI. Keep in mind that the PS3 will not up-convert standard DVDs via component - only HDMI.
