Depends I love Planar speakers - openess, air or whatever you call it! There is just a distinction to the sound of planar and electrostatic speakers, ribbons also (I also love ribbon microphones for studio work - sound is just sweet). I also like dynamic speakers - well because they are dynamic and efficient. Planars want the power and they want it in large gulps. Dynamic speakers and espcially horn loaded ones are very efficient can be driven by 5 watt tube amps. I guess this is why it can be hard to find one speaker that you just love. I'm gravitating to a hybrid type (like the BG 92Z radia) a combo of planar and dynamic (I had that with my Infinity RS-6B's my son is loving them to death). I would love to do a DIY project using Raven tweeters and excellent quality dynamic drivers. One of my dream speakers happens to be the ML CLS II's a full range electrostatic but I would use extremely fast subs to augment the low end of these speakers. Still looking (If I couldn't get these - I would like to audition a set of Caver Amazings - just missed a pair in my area).

Ok. I know about electrostatic and ribbon speakers, but care to do a little education about planar and dynamic fellas?

I love ribbon speakers. They sound a lot more natural and life-like to me. That's why I use them all around in my home theater and also in my 2 channel setup.

It all depends on your personal tastes though. A lot of people around here use Klipsch speakers, so they must prefer horned tweeters. I personally, do not, but that's just me.

Dynamic speakers are cone/dome type drivers, planar includes ribbons-electrostatics-and stuff like the infinity emit tweeters and emim midrange drivers.
