Default ONKYO TX-SR606 or Onkyo TX-SR506

Looking to get new receiver, for my first modest surround system .Thinking about getting the ONKYO TX-SR606, but while waiting for the price to come down, I also like the Onkyo TXSR506. Is there much of a difference between these two. There's alot of knowledge here, thats why I would like some advice, thanks.

Theres a number of differences between the 2 , the biggest being that the 606 has 4 HDMI ports & decodes Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HDMA. If you have Blu & are choosing between the 506 & 606 & want to enjoy Lossless audio get the 606.

Always go with the higher model # if it's in your budget. Receivers, like cars, always have more features for the higher model #'s.

what's the main differences between this and the current 606 model (which i have on my next-purchase mental note)? I assume you upgraded hence the sale...what did you feel you were missing and how good of condition is your old one? and while you are at it, any thoughts on a price?

only reason I bought my pioneer is because I was getting a emotiva amp. I loved my onkyo 605. The only difference is one HDMI Input between the 606 snf 605. Mine has a 2 year extended warranty through vanns.com immaculate condition and I have some monoprice HDMI cables Ill thow in.

asking $275 shipped to your door? pm me

A major and more important difference is that the 606 has Audyssey Dynamic EQ. The best thing to happen to a receiver in years as you no longer need to listen at ear deafening reference volume to get full fidelity and surround sound effects.

The 506 is a HDMI pass thru only, you need to add a separate cable for the audio portion.....

now, we were talking about the 605 v the 606, right? i know the recent post about the 606 vs the 506 does show more changes, which is true, and also not something I am willing to lose out on. Just making sure.

So re-iterating, the 605 v the 606 only difference is the addition in the newer model of one additional HDMI input?
