Talking Audio snob in 4 miutes and 53 seconds

I went to a specialty store to audition Paradigm Speakers and the salesmen said B&W are a better speaker. I had him play Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar on me. I was like that was ok, I got home played it on the speakers that I previouly wanted, and I was like where's the bass, where's the magic where's the fun. I listened to Top Gun, one of the best sounding Blu ray's I've heard on my system, put it on and it suddenly sucked big time.

I unhooked my surround sound and am now rocking 2 channel Bostons that are more than 20 years old.

Oh, damn I guess I will have to review all the movies I have in the user review area again. Oh well.

So did you get the Paradigm's and not like them? Do you have a subwoofer? I am just trying to understand your point.

Perhaps he forgot that 2 channel music and surround sound film soundtracks are two very different beasts, and usually when building a system you have to choose between optimizing for one or the other.
That's why I like DVD-Audio, because it was meant to be listened to on home theater setups

After hearing the B&W's, I put my home theater in a box away and hooked up my parents A 200 Bostons what a difference. I have been listening to all the speakers we have in the house and came to the conclusion that the best speakers we have are our Mordant Shorts that I can pick up and hold in my hand. After heaing the B&W I thought it was some sort of consperiousy, like Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny. I swear after hearing B&W I felt like I was on elicit drugs I mean I have been all over the map emotionally the last week.

Yes, B&Ws are quite good, I agree,

But I'd love me some Paradigms regardless

Are you saying the the Boston Acoustic A200's are better than the speakers you have auditioned. If this is what you are saying....I can believe it. Classic speakers from that era are just that, Classic speakers. It was more about sound and throw beauty out the window. They may be ugly, but they sure know how to bring it! The Boston's represent the classic New England sound not unlike my current Snells. They have a wide front baffle to reduce phasing problems and they go pretty low! Those speakers are excellent! What are the Mordant Shorts in your possession? They are a fine speaker maker also!
