Default True HD and Onkyo 606 question

This is a spinoff of another thread that helped me out greatly. The link to that thread is here (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=85746)
for anyone having problems getting TRUE HD to show up using the Onkyo 606 and a Blu-ray player.
However, I have a few more questions that fall under a slightly different category.
1) I get the DTS light, just not the TRUE HD light on The Dark Knight. Then I tried Iron Man and the True HD light came right on. What is the deal with that? Both have a TRUE HD track. Why different results with different discs? Am I doing something wrong with The Dark Knight? I just put the Iron Man disc in and it worked perfectly.

2) In the setup menu on the Onkyo 606 under the "hardware" section there is a selection labeled "HDMI". The first option is "output selection". Mine is set on "through". Is that correct? Should it be set to something else? I have my DirectTV HD and Blu-ray running to the Onkyo via HDMI and the Onkyo running to my TV via HDMI.

thanks in advance,

Brian

In TDK you have to select TrueHD from the audio selection. It's not default.

Warner Blu's default to dolby 5.1 not True hd like i suspect paramount (iron man) does. you will need to choose the true hd track from your remote or start menu

Thanks for your help guys. That does make sense. I will play with it when I get home tonight. I hope my stupid questions help somebody else figure out their stuff.

That takes care of question 1. Any shots at number 2?

Thanks again,

Brian

This option is for the amps upscaling and nothing to do with the audio. Leave at at through and the amp will just pass the video signal through untouched at whatever res the source is sending, if you want the amp to do the upscaling select what res you want from that option (upto 1080i).

Knowing this is a WB produced disc, this would be my advice.

Through does no alterations to the picture (e.g. processing, upconverting, upscaling). I would suggest leaving it at this, and don't worry about it. You should be good to go.

zanderol24, my other options, I believe, are 480p, 720p, and 1080i.
I will leave it at "through".

Thanks again for all the help ... I love this forum.
