Default As all studios are Blu-ray now...

...does that create a sense of competition between them to release more of their titles faster or better titles than than the "other guy?"

maybe but i think that it will take universal a few months anyhow to get their head in the game. I think Paramount is going to beat them to the punch because they have experience releasing BDs and UNI doesnt

I would assume so. They need to battle for shares of the HDM market

Yes it does, which is why the idea, floated elsewhere, that having a format war was good for competition is nuts.

Why would it? There's no real sense of competition in the DVD market. Also, look at how studios release their movies for theatrical runs as well. It benefits everyone to avoid other studios big releases because if everyone releases their movies all at once, a couple of them are bound to get lost in the shuffle. So no, I don't think there's anything to be gained by trying to one up each other with their releases.

I hope that these studios do not try to rush their products. I would like to see quality releases.

Yes, they will compete again. However, they will do so for the greater good of themselves, and hopefully, the technology. Don't look for consumers to get as much out of this as the studios.

Also, unless I missed Paramount's announcement, not all studios are Blu yet.

I still haven't seen a press release direct from Universal or Paramount that they are releasing Blu-ray. I just went on Universal's website and HD-DVD is still plastered all over it, with no mention of Blu-ray.

Perhaps, but I'm more of a "quality not quantity" kind of guy (looks sharply at Universal).
