Default Eight studios only supporting Blu Ray

Disney
Miramax
Columbia Tri Star
Lions Gate
Sony Pictures
Pixar
MGM
Fox
Will only support Blu RAy, with only Universal holding out but probably not for long.
Add in dual support from Warner and Paramount and it seems 90+% of movies will be available on Blu Ray, and only about 30% on hd dvd.

I would suggest that any Toshiba player purchased could be used as a boat anchor later on when the format dies, except the Toshiba players are going to weigh 5-6 pounds....so maybe a paperweight instead

LOL, I made the stupid mistake of buying a DCC (Digital Compact Cassette) player in the early 90's. Talk about a paperweight. I vowed to do a lot more research the next time I wanted to buy into a new format. While there's always a chance that things could improve dramatically for HD DVD, as it stands now I too think it would be quite foolish to buy into a format with such limited support. Unfortunately, I am talking from personal experience.

I'm supporting BD.

I'll probably snap up some of the launch titles before getting a player in fact.

Interesting comment. I actually bought the original Jerry Maguire DVD five days before I purchased by first DVD player. I suppose the same thing could happen with BD for me as well.

So whats your point....there are still eight studios not supporting hd dvd, and that adds up to a he** of a lot of popular movies that hd supporters will not have.
And now with the expected full Warner support....hd dvd is all but dead imo.

Paramount admitted that the PS3 was a factor in their decision to no longer be HD DVD exclusive so I'd say the PS3 does have quite an influence on the format war. Now what's taking Universal so long?

Looks like all the major studios and plenty of independent studios are supporting bluray now. That’s good.
