Default Galápagos

Who else picked this up? I got it early on Saturday and scanned through it to check the PQ. But I'm actually watching it now and besides having great PQ, it's an excellent documentary.

Kind of surprised at the lack of excitement for this. After all the fervor for Planet Earth, I figured this would be right up everyone's alleys.

I picked up yesterday. I watched most of it, thought it was pretty good. Though something about it doesn't seem as...epic, I guess, as Planet Earth. I think I just miss David Attenborough's narration. Will finish it today most likely. Yeah, great PQ too.

It is maybe better than Planet Earth but it says 1080p on the cover but my display shows 1080i
Picture quality is top notch though.

Local BB was previewing it yesterday on their screens as I was looking for TDAT, which I never could find, and it looked great and sounded pretty good as well.

This should be here tomorrow for me. Not sure why shipping is taking so damn long as of late with Amazon.

Video:

"BBC’s own five-disc Planet Earth Blu-ray set can be a bit daunting. Almost as if the BBC realized this, it recently released a one-disc, less-than-three-hours Blu-ray Disc called Galapagos. And if you’ve ever wanted to show off that shiny 1080p monitor with nature cinematography, Galapagos is the show with which to do it. Quite frankly, I’ve never seen picture quality this good. Ever. Oh, and the programs are great, too.

Normally I hate opening with picture-quality commentary, because it just seems shallow. With Galapagos, there’s really no other way to begin. When the BBC traveled to the equatorial islands off South America’s West coast, the team went equipped with a phalanx of high-definition cameras. It shows. The wildlife in the Galapagos islands, most of which is featured in these three episodes, is spectacular, colorful and at times bizarre. Capturing that uniqueness is paramount to communicating the character of the islands, and the high-definition cameras do so with aplomb. From the individual feathers on a blue-footed booby to the dragon-like scales above a marine iguana’s eyes, no detail is overlooked, and each is transferred flawlessly via the disc’s VC-1 encoding. Brilliant blues, deep dark tones and blindingly bright oranges pop off the screen with no over-saturation or blur, and the contrast on the animals is astounding.

Default Galápagos 1080i?

I've got a PS3 with my audio/video running through a Denon AVR-2807. My TV is a Mits WD-65731 1080p. When I put in any other blu-ray I get 1080p resolution. When I put in Galapagos I only get 1080i. I've Google'd this and I've seen that others have this problem but I've yet to see a solution. Any ideas? Thanks!

The title was likely only shot 1080i, couple be they encoded it like that. I have a 1080i Blu from Japan

It says 1080p on the case and all the reviews say it's 1080p.
