Default Sony speakers VS. Lowest budget Polks?

Keep in mind im staying in the 11inch tall (bookshelves), $100 for center, $100 for booksshelf range...... would i see much differance in a setup with the sony ssb1000s and a sony ss-cn5000, than with polk t15s and a polk CSR center? Thanks, iknow polk makes a better speaker than sony, but does that come into play as much with polk budget models?

you should not be paying $100 for the sony b1000, the b3000 do run about $100. Which would be decdnt bookshelves to use as fronts.

If you have the 1000's then get some 3000's $100 or floorstanding 5000's $150 and add the center and you would be set, except for a sub.... The 3000's and the 5000s are the same except size. I believe the 5000's can reach a lower frequency too. But if you have a sub and crossover your speakers at about 80-90 Hz, then you would be cool. Sony speakers not bad.

I would stay with polk's even if they are budget models I have YAMAHA's from different years & two that are very new. and to me thay sound allmost the same. really can't tell much of a difference. only in test mode can I tell.

I'm no fan of Polk, but i would go that route over the sony, i find sony speakers (low end models) to be very midrange and don't handle bass or highs very well.
