Well the article says that he's hard at work on the release, and why on earth would that take more than one year to do so.

The thought could be that it will sell better when The Hobbit comes out, or when blu-ray is the mainstream format.

I don't know. They will be working on all 3 LOTR movies which could take time. More than 1 year? Don't know. Depends how involved Peter Jackson is. But Peter Jackson never said "2009". It could be longer. It could be shorter. I suspect Warner would like to release the LOTR movies when they would have the biggest impact. Which would be with "The Hobbit". Which is why Hunt mentions 2011. I hope the LOTR trilogy comes sooner than later since they are my fav movies of all time, but I am not holding my breath.
