Default "Rock Me Sexy Jesus"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RK3IQMtuEG4

A video that my friends and I made for english class. We read Hamlet and my friend and I kept on bothering the teacher to watch Hamlet 2, but she didn't let us. So she assigned a video project that you have to act out a scene from Hamlet and we decided to do this video as a bonus feature. "Rock Me Sexy Jesus" is a song that they sing in Hamlet 2. What do you guys think?

Never caught Hamlet 2 in theaters...still have to rent it.

I'd love to see a production of Corpus Christi with Ricshoe, if he's bothered by this.

What's funny is if a movie contained a song called "Rock Me Sexy Muhammad", we'd have had denouncements all over the liberal new by CAIR (Council for American Islamic Relations) and other Muslim groups. There's such a double-standard that it's not even funny anymore.

Crucifix in a jar of urine = OKAY

Koran in a toilet = NOT OKAY

Using Michelangelo's Hand of God to promote condoms = OKAY

Printing Muhammad's picture in a cartoon = NOT OKAY

I will have to watch your video tonight (can't watch it at work).

I really enjoyed that movie and that song, so I am interested in watching your video.

I just wish Hamlet 2 was available on Blu-Ray. It annoyed me when it only came out on DVD (I still picked it up anyway, though).

I could post dozens of "jokes" right now that would be sure to offend all sorts of different "groups" around here. Would it be okay because they...were...jokes?

While I won't say I'm offended, I don't find it funny at all. I made it through 50 seconds before giving it the ol' Command + W (I'm on a Mac).

I'd say so.

People need to chill out and stop being so stuck up all the time, I mean really, laugh a little it doesn't hurt.

Take that comic about the monkey getting shot for instance, people are starting to lose their minds over that, and I thought it was kinda a funny joke. I used to joke around with an African American guy I know all the time, he even called me a Cra**er @$$ Cra**er... I found it hilarious.

The joke in the song, is that it's what Jesus would be doing if he were to appear now. It doesn't make fun of Jesus' teachings, it expands on them brings them up to date with what modern times is teaching us and makes it relevant.

If folks can't find something funny about that, I'm not sure what they'd find funny now-a-days. I mean it's not like the joke about Jesus in the Crow... that one was far more crude and people would probably find that a great deal more offensive than this... this is slapstick comedy.

Exactly. There's nothing even remotely insulting being done or said. I don't get it.

Note the use of question mark.

(More specifically, it's an attempt by one of the "South Park" B-writers trying wayyy too hard to escape from Matt and Trey's shadow by steamrollering the same lame athie-shock material into the red zone, and reminding us just what finesse Matt & Trey can wield their shock material with, on those occasions when they can steer an actual point out of it.
Which is probably why said "Hamlet 2" sank a faster no-show at the box office than even "Disaster Movie" could ever dream of...Sorry if that breaks any wishful cult-film mythologizing, but hey, reality stinks, dont it?

...Oh, and btw, guys, it's called "Education": If your teacher wanted you to study the real "Hamlet", would a Thursday-night rental of Mel Gibson have killed you?
The Kenneth Branagh, yes, but no reported casualties on the Ethan Hawke version.)

Believe it or not, I find many things in life funny, and fully agree that folks need to lighten-up a little for a lot of things. There are times, however, where things are just taken a bit too far. I don't even mind most of the religious jokes and humor (yes, even South Park is okay, for the most part). But a song with "Sexy Jesus" in the title and lyrics is just wrong to me. The same can be said for the Hand of God condom ad. We can get into the whole religios aspect of things, but this is not the forum for that. I assume I'm allowed to feel the way I do?

My bigger 'gripe' has to do with the whole overboard double-standard PC'ness these days. It's pretty clear that it is considered okay to make fun of Christians and Christianity, but it's NOT okay to do the same for Islam/Muslims. It's okay to portray Bush as a monkey in numerous cartoons over the years, but the minute a similar cartoon (which doesn't really imply the chimp is Obama) is published, we have a major backlash and folks screaming racism. The exact same thing can be applied toward gays. God forbid you crack a joke or print a cartoon poking fun at gays or disagree with any of the 'agenda'. As soon as you do, you'll have half a dozen labels slapped on you. It's just ridiculous. Welcome to the United States of the Offended.

Anyway, I assume if this goes any further, the thread will be locked, so I'll stop here. I think we can all agree that when it comes to faith, everyone has their own beliefs that they are entitled to. Telling these folks to 'lighten-up' or 'stop taking things so seriously' is NOT going to change how they feel.

crying about it...

The movie was GREAT! AND it was all in good fun. Just like Borat making fun of Jews. He IS a jew... Just like the people who made H2 are PROBABLY christians or Jews.

If Muslims made a film about Muhammad it would be different. You don't see the Muslim collation making films about Jesus.
