Default Appropriate brightness setting- Samsung Plasma

Hello everyone-

I have the Samsung PN50A450 plasma (50" 720P) and the Samsung 1500 blu ray player. I have been struggling to find the right brightness setting that will allow the screen to have deep/ rich black levels without having the screen "shut off". Im not sure if anyone else experiances this problem but if I set the brightness too low my screen will flick off and then back on once the film content is bright enough again. If I set the brightness high enough so that this doesnt happen, the blacks dont reach the same level as the black bars on the top and bottom of a film. I have tried messing with the black level being set to high, medium, and low also with the dynamic contrast at high, medium, and low but no combination of these seems to help. Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

What picture mode are you using? I know in standard mode the screen will shut off but it's never happened to me while using movie mode.

That definately helped, I didnt know that the exact same settings in movie mode and standard mode produced such a different image. Thanks!
