That doesn't mean plasma is dead....Panasonic and Samsung are still going to make plasmas.

I would go for the Samsung 650. It has excellent picture and I think a better overall television. Hard to compare though..LCD to plasma. What are you using it for mainly and where will you be putting tv? What are your lighting conditions? I think I'd lean towards the samsung on this one (I'm familiar with both sets...maybe slightly biased as I have the a650)

I would say the LN52A650, only because while the PN50A650 is nice, it is not as good as a Panasonic plasma imo. The LN52A650 is a mid level 1080p LCD, while the PN50A650 is an entry level 1080p plasma.

They are both Samsung, and they are both 650's. Just one is a LCD and one is a Plasma. It is going in the livingroom, and the lighting conditions are very dark, for the most part. I have a Samsung plasma in there now, but I hate when the screen goes dark, you can still see the image, that really pisses me OFF!!!

LOL

Comments like this don't help the OP at all. I'll take a Panasonic/Pioneer Plasma over ANY LCD any day of the week. The PQ on plasma's is unbeatable. You're just not going to get the PQ on an LCD that you're going to get on a nicer plasma set. That is the bottom line.

I own 2 LCD's, one 720P and the other 1080P. My Samsung plasma blows BOTH away PQ wise and it's a 720P set.

To the OP, go with the Pioneer plasma. You will NOT be disapointed!

What are some model numbers for the Panasonic or Pioneer? At least that way I can check them out.

We purchased the LN52A650 back in November after looking at a number of different models. I'm 100% happy with this TV. I wouldn't even trade it in for a larger model. I love the clarity of the image, for one, and the "3d" effect from the 120mhz processor.

I think it is absolutely crazy to settle for a TV when you are spending the same or more than front projectors like this Sanyo z7000, 1080p front projector for $1599 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...s=Sanyo%20Z700

Size matters dude You can focus a front projector to the exact size the room can handle from a few feet to over 10 feet.
