Default help, onkyo 706,ps3 subwoofer not working on stereo

hey i have this weird problem,my subwoofer is not working on the ps3 when i play mp3s and when i press display on the remote it states 7.1 on the onkyo 706.

Before i use to set it at stereo and it would play with my two front speakers and sub woofer...now it doesn't!,for some strange reason...could somebody help me??...i tried putting my settings on the ps3 on 2 channel and still it remains the subwoofer not working while the receiver is on stereo mode

movies and everything work alright..just not stereo mode with the music!..i need my sub woofer to pick up the low notes!

...

UPDATE,does anyone know if the sony ps3 2.60 update have anything to effect the sub woofer not working while trying to play 2.0 channel source like mp3's from the ps3???.

it might have changed it from the PS3 2.60 UPDATE so when i go to Stereo Mode on the Onkyo...the Sub does not work! only sound comes from the two Front speakers!.

My sub works, and I have the 2.60 firmware update. So that eliminates that theory.

...why is your receiver displaying 7.1 on stereo mp3's? It should show receiving a 2-channel signal. I have to confirm this on my own setup, but I can tell I'm only getting 2-channel when streaming mp3's.

Because of that, it's dependent on your setup. What is your front speaker crossover setting? Full band? 80hz? Somewhere else? I know that I'm getting bass from the sub when I should when listening to mp3's via the PS3.

subwoofer:yes
Front: full Band.

MY BAD,i found the Cure for my problem!!!

Quote "here are two things that come to mind that might be causing you to not have any sub output when in stereo mode. I'll mention the one that I think it is - if your front speakers are set to "Full Band", then the receiver won't send any bass to the sub when in stereo mode."

mine was set to full!...its fixed now that i set it back at 80hz!..now it sent's the signal to the subwoofer, how dumb of me!..

setting your front's as full band tells your Onkyo the speakers are "Large" and ends up dropping the sub woofer all together.

LOL, that's why I asked what the crossover was.
