Default just looking at a lap top

I won't take it out side my home but I like the idea of being able to from room to room.

I'm looking at $ 1000 as my budget.

Terabyte memory
audio outputs that can hook up to any speaker.

Can some one explain how audio outputs to say B&W or Paradigm speakers actually work. Because I have no clue as to the inner workings of a computer. I was born into a generation of people who should not have to ask these type of questions damn it!

Can people private message me with the answer, as well as posting it so every one can see it.

Thank you!

Most laptops have headphone out and maybe optical out(Toslink?).
Neither is designed for driving speakers.
Connection to a reciever is needed for amplification.

Terabyte? Thinking you meant Hard drive space. Hmmm... with a $1000 budget it might not be a possibility.

A terabyte of memory would be sick. Is that even possible?

I would bet that most laptops under a grand would not have anything better than stereo headphone 3.5mm jacks as their audio output (as dadkins said); you might find some optical options, but I would guess you won't find many.
