You might have your sub volume set to high.

HiDef-Crazy is correct, turn down the volume control on your subwoofer. The final speaker levels, as indicated by your 805, will not be "0", but will typically be within a few dB of 0. The subwoofer level is the most important; I would keep rerunning Audyssey (and adjusting the subwoofer volume control) until the 805 shows a subwoofer level within about 5dB of 0 (just my opinion).

I have had the volume on the sub less then 50% and I still get -12 when I run audyssey. I'm not sure if turning down the volume on the sub further will make the results highier in audyssey.

I just slowing adjust the db in the Onkyo until I was happy with the results.

Adjust the cut-off frequency on the sub to the maximum and set the sub volume to about 10 to 12 o'clock then run Audessey again.

I believe in the manual it says that the Audessey might not give good results for the sub level, or maybe somebody just said that on here somewhere. I would trust your ears if the Audessey seems wrong.

50% is very high, which is why Audyssey has to reduce the level to -12dB. My HSU is set at about 15-20% and the 805 level is about zero.

Correcting subwoofer levels and EQ'ing the bass is where Audyssey is king. Many people report that the bass is low after running Audyssey, but more than likely, it is now closer to being correct. Sometimes it takes awhile to get use to hearing proper bass.

Actually, setting the subwoofer level is a cat and mouse game between the AVR's level setting and the volume control setting on the sub. However, that has always been a crapshoot and has nothing to do with Audyssey. Audyssey will set the subwoofer level the same as the other channels so that the system will play at reference level (75dB SPL) at the main listening point (first Audyssey test point). What seems to be unusual sub levels in the AVR setup screen is just the cat & mouse came that we have to play when setting-up any powered subwoofer.

After Audyssey completes the system's level set-up, and if the subwoofer (or any other channel levels) are not to a specific user's liking, then minor level adjustments are fine.

I actually checked mine with a SPL meter, I like my subs a little hot because I just love the low end so much, but my Audessey was still calibrating the sub even lower than what my SPL meter was telling me was reference (C weighting) I don't know if my SPL meter is wrong but I am happy using that.
