Default Disney (Blu-Ray) on NBC (HD-DVD)

Did anyone notice that last Sunday's NBC movie, National Treasure, which is a Disney title was being shown on NBC a primary HD-DVD exclusive studio with Universal?

I thought this was interesting since I know Disney is Blu-Ray exclusive and Universal wants to be HD-DVD exclusive. This seems to be sending a mixed message from both studios as Universal/NBC must have paid for some rights to broadcast.

all corporations are essentially *****s. money is everything. that's why I don't see anything to the ps3 product placement in heroes or the disney movies on nbc. plus there are different branches to each company and this format war matters to universal as a whole but maybe not so much to the tv division that's trying to make its goals. an example from my work would be that GE is a direct competitor of ours. but a division of GE sells us parts.

Umm what you should have been mentioning is strange is that Disney which OWNS ABC wasn't showing this movie on ABC. They are pretty good about keeping it all in the family. This is indeed strange but to me more because of the Disney/ABC relationship rather than the format wars...

LOL GE makes money on you even when they lose business to you - sounds like win-win for them!

well, it can be seen that way. one division makes thousands off us while another loses millions to us. but they know they can't get rid of us. so they'll take what they can get.

its the same way with abc and nbc. they're both not going anywhere so if 1 is willing to pay the parent company of another to show a movie, they'll take it.

Universal HD and NBC are seperate from their film distribution side.

Much like Universal Music Group is also seperate.

Of similar note is that Stargate Atlantis, shows on Universal HD, however, the discs are published by MGM still, which is part of the reason there was suspicion of Atlantis seasons coming out on Blu-Ray.

Comment regarding the GE bit, it's kinda funny to see but it happens alot. I know my company still has to compete and bid against other competitors to provide a service for a 'sister' company. And they still gotta pay us too [money margin moving there for the most part and bottom line attribution].
