PS3 RE5 outsells 4:1 first day in Japan, PS3 hardware top

Japanese numbers claim a 4:1 first day sales report. Found this on a couple of sites.

Resident Evil 5 First day sales of Resident Evil 5 are in from Japan. The game sold four times as much on the PlayStation 3.

According to Ameblo.jp, Resident Evil 5 sold 278,000 on its first day in Japan. There's a very good chance the game could beat Yakuza 3's first week sales - the game sold 232,000 on its first day.

The split is significant, the PlayStation 3 sold 222,000 copies, with the Xbox 360 behind at 56,000.

It is taking control finally from Xbox 360.

My brother Bought Resident Evil 5 on PS3 and not on XBOX 360.

This game is great ,is going to take some sunshine from Killzone 2

Is it because 360 gets games exclusively, and people are hoping if the PS3 outsells the 360, eventually the 360 will go away and those games will end up on PS3?

This is in Japan...of course it's going to outsell on the PS3 because the 360 is one of the worst selling systems in Japan.

Personally I'm glad to see this because RE started on Playstation. Resident Evil has only gotten to make FIVE games (just core games, not even Code Veronica and all the other off shoots) BECAUSE it started on Playstation.

It is incredibly frustrating to me as a long time Sony devotee to see my franchises going multi-platform. RE, Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, Devil May Cry, Tekken, etc...

I know it's not (entirely) Sony's fault because Microsoft shells out huge money to get these franchises and yes I understand it's a business and the developers need to make money, but it's like, where's the loyalty from the developers to Sony that allowed these franchises to THRIVE and make them what they are. Like, great , thanks Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto becomes the biggest selling franchise in gaming on PS2, so you thank your Sony players by giving exclusive DLC on 360.

It's a vicious cycle because the developers want to put their games on the system that will make money, but if ALL Sony's franchises had stayed exclusive (like the ones I stated above), this console generation would have been Playstation and Nintendo and everyone would laugh off the 360 the way the (misinformed) general public laughs off the PS3 now.

Sorry I have a headache and can't sleep... rant over. Hurray PS3

But why in the world do you care? It doesn't affect you in any way if RE goes to Xbox, Wii, etc. It doesn't lessen the value of the PS3 version.

I completely agree, I've been a sony fanboy since I jumped ship from SNES to PS1 WAAAAAY back in the day.
The first RE still sticks out in my mind. Any game that is still talked about, what 15 YEARS, after it's release is impressive. Go ahead tally them up. Mario, zelda, FF7, Sonic, RE, NHL '94 ( )....you prolly won't come up with too many

I am a Playstation Fanboy too but even I know the 360 is at the bottom of the heap in Japan. Wait till the US sales figures come out. (And no, I don't own an Xbox)

This is in Japan so its not suprising. The 360 worst selling console in Japan. Lets see that happen in the states, and then we will be talking about taking control. I wouldn't be suprised if it sells better in euorpe as well.

Great news, the stronger PS3 hardware and software sales are, the more likely it is we'll see higher quality exclusive games and the more difficult it is for Microsoft to tie up deals with Japanese publishers.
