Default Shakers for me?

For a small bedroom with 80W 5.1 computer speakers, would shakers liven up my low powered sub or would it just be overkill and/or lose the effect?

Also, because my kit has the amp and all built in the sub, what would be my cheapest option for powering these devices.

Thanks ahead, and yes im a bit noobish to the audio world still.

When you say shakers, are you talking about being able to feel the bass, (a.k.a. Buttkickers)?

Yea, I found some units for $40 on amazon but im wondering how much money an amp dedicated to these would be. It seems to be a good solution for a small room, and a cheap cure for cheap speakers.

They will add some tactile sensation to your system, but very little as far as the amount of low frequency you will hear. I have a buttkicker, and it adds a nice dimension to the viewing, but it adds only minimal bass, if any, to my audio. A proper amp to provide it juice goes for $109 on Amazon, if this is the Aura Pro Bass Shaker that I think it is. My buttkicker is a good bit bigger and powerful than the shakers are, so I'm not sure how much that shaker will add for you. Might just be better to save the $ to get a better quality sub if you want my 2 cents. Good luck!

i have 2 of the 25 watt (i think) aura bass shakers hooked up to an old piece of crap kenwood receiver. the shakers are mounted to the cross bars under the sofa and receiver is behind it.

i was skeptical at first but these little things really rock the sofa and enhance the "feeling" of bass when watching movies. I'm in a townhouse and can't get too loud with the bass, so these complement my subwoofer perfectly.

sounds like you will need a second hand receiver (try a pawn shop) and a crossover. What kind of outputs does your amp/sub have?

The sub has 4 RCA outputs and 1 headphone jack for the center channel. I might end up just waiting it out till I have a better system.. this one I have is only looking more pathetic as time goes by. Ill keep an eye out for some cheap receivers anyway.
